This 8,017-acre state park is located just north of Columbus, the state's capital, and features beautiful forests of beech and maple trees which are home to many species of animals. The park provides a safe haven for various animals, such as white-tail deer, rabbits, groundhogs, squirrels, and many migratory bird species.
But the park's most attractive landmark is its 3,387 man-made Alum Creek Reservoir, which is open on a year-round basis to practice swimming, boating, fishing, and picnicking. The reservoir has a rich population of game fish like smallmouth bass and bluegill and hosts various fishing angler tournaments each year. For those that'd rather stick to the shore, the park's well-kept trail system circles the lake and offers excellent scenic views where to enjoy a picnic.
Alum Creek's campground has 286 campsites with electricity and a great view that overlooks the lake. Some of the excellent amenities that visitors can enjoy include hot showers, dumping station, free Wi-Fi, playgrounds, basketball courts, picnic tables, and fire rings.
